Keeping you in the Know: Dallas Market

Just because our storefront is temporarily closed due to renovation, doesn't mean we haven't been working tirelessly to get you the latest and greatest fashion trends!

This past week the By Request team took a trip down to Dallas for Dallas Market.

Our mission as always is to find you (our loyal clientele) the highest quality and unique pieces from the brands you already love and the new ones that will be sure to impress.

We spent multiple days searching for the must haves for late summer, fall and the upcoming holiday season!

Here is a sneak peek of what's to come . . .

We saw many florals in fall tones to help you effortlessly transition your wardrobe.

This fall will also bring several new designers to By Request, as well as a fabulous selection of Razorback Red for game days.

You'll find all of this and more when we open our doors later this summer!

Stay up to date by following us on Facebook and Instagram @byrequestnwa.  Our Renovation Reveal will be here before you know it!

Til next time,

Monica

Styled by Monica: Personal Styling Services

Twenty years of passion, dedication and relationships have developed a once small dream into one of the biggest parts of my life.  By Request would not be a fraction of what it is today if it wasn't for you; the client.  We are not just another fashion boutique.  We offer personalized styling everyday, but you probably didn't know it... So as of today, we've decided to take that component one step further!

To better serve you, we are formalizing our styling services.  All you have to do is book an appointment and we'll take it from there.  We will discuss your wardrobe needs, and find a solution on how to refresh, revive and maybe even renew some of your favorite pieces. I’ll be able to work with items you already own and give them new partners to create fun confident looks that are tailored just for you.

I’m so excited to finally be at a point where I can formalize what I’ve done for so many and offer it to all of my clients.  This new chapter for the store is specifically for you. I can now focus on you and give you the much deserving time you need to be able to walk out of By Request confident in your closet.

To help you get the most out of our styling services you can call in advance and give us your size and tell us a little bit about your fashion needs. By the time you come in, we’ll have a dressing room ready just for you.

As a mom and business woman, I understand just how crazy life can be. And sometimes, our closets take a back seat.  I want to simplify this process for you.  Shopping should be an enjoyable escape, and Styled by Monica is something you can do for yourself.

Confidence is power, and I cannot wait to help you thrive through your clothes.

The Packing List: Spring Break Pt. 2

Are you headed to somewhere snowy or cooler for that matter this spring break? If so, this packing list is what you've been looking for.

I've gathered some essential pieces that will help you pack with ease.

First, I have featured a basic denim shirt from Bella Dahl. This top is a great starting piece.  You can pair it with black, grey,  winter white, or darker blue denim and then throw on a scarf to complete an outfit.

I love a good cashmere travel wrap  - only a white + warren one will do - this spring break try this beige and cream striped one.  This can be your go to scarf/wrap the entire time you are away.

And I can't say enough about this scoop neck basic white Lilla P long sleeve tee - the weight of this cotton is not heavy and not too thin - perfect for layering!

The shoe that will save you are these neutral booties.   This boot will compliment all your outfits and can easily be transitioned through spring - these Joie barrow bootie will do the trick.

If you want to change it up a bit, throw on this kimono cashmere sand cardigan.  It can easily layer over a tee or the denim shirt or both if it is really chilly. And once spring becomes more consistent, this light-weight cashmere kimono can be thrown over a tank.  It will be a work horse in your wardrobe this year!

The Packing List: Spring Break Pt. 1

Spring Break is just around around the corner, so let me help you make your packing easy.  This post is all about warm weather.  Whether you're going to the beach or just a warmer place, I've got the pieces you need.

First, let's start with a key piece that'll help you embrace the warm weather.  You will need and want an easy day to night dress! This black and white Bella Dahl dress is made up of a comfortable light-weight linen with an added flirty-fringed hem.

The perfect thing about a day to night dress is that you can layer however you'd like.  I chose this perfect White + Warren Cardigan.  Not only does this go with the dress, and not take away from it, it also gives you the option to change your look up!

A spring must-have is the denim short.  This item is a must in your suitcase because you can dress them up or down.  Denim shorts are easy to pair with a tee for a casual look or a sleeveless top like the one I've chosen.  This Bella Dahl top goes with any shade of blue denim or white.

Shoes are perhaps the most frustrating thing to pack.  Do you take your nice sandals? What about heels or comfortable walking shoes?  Let me make it easy for you: Tkees.  Tkees are a step up in the flip flop world. They are casual enough to go with t-shirts but just enough to make a statement.

Now all you need is a bag to take on your day.  This GIGI New York leather backpack is just the right size- not too big and not too small.  Everything you need to make your vacation memorable will fit in it and you'll look stylish doing so.

I hope you have a great spring break.  Til next time.

xoxo

Keep it Neutral

It may be feeling like spring, but let's not forget we're still in February! This is perhaps the most confusing time to shop for clothes.  Do you shop for the winter that may still be ahead of us? Or do you go straight to florals and bright colors?

I have the solution: Keep it Neutral.

Keeping it neutral is a great way to buy quality and versatile pieces that can work for you during any season! But don't think just because you're limiting your wardrobe color palette that your outfits will be boring - the quality and details of the pieces will shine through.

This light-weight hooded cashmere cardigan will be a go along way this spring. I love it with a simple black v neck tee - by Lilla P paired back with the skyline skinny white jean by Paige Denim.  Wearing white denim gives your outfit a spring-feel in during these winter months.

And don't feel like what you see is what you get.  This cardigan can easily be paired with any blue denim and a white t-shirt for a more classic take.

This is a great go to outfit for the weekend, especially if its colder in the morning and warmer in the afternoon. The Jenni leather pebble grain cross-body bag by GiGi New York is the perfect bag to travel around with, leaving you hands free for your favorite weekend activity - shopping :)

Cashmere Transition

Cashmere Transition Pt 2: Weekend Wear

The weekend is here, the weather is beautiful and all we want is to break out all of our spring pieces ... in the middle of February.

This time of year can be especially difficult when it comes to putting together your everyday outfit; one day its sunny and 70 and the next its cold with the high of 40.  My secret to success is cashmere.  Below I wrote about how to transition cashmere from winter to spring and this weekend I put together the perfect weekend outfit!

It's all about stripes this spring and no designer does it better than White + Warren for this casual look.  This cashmere sweater is a fun colorful sweater that you can easily throw on and still feel confident and fabulous!

All you need to complete this look is a great pair of jeans - I went with this trendy frayed, high-low cut denim that helps complete the head to to toe look.  Depending on how warm it gets, feel free to pair it with a great pair of shorts! It's all about being comfortable.  And let's not forget the perfect bag that ties the look together.  This GiGi tote is such a wonderful grab and go bag! Throw everything you need in there and enjoy your weekend!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just because winter is nearing its end doesn't mean you have to say, "Goodbye cashmere."

Spring-weight cashmere is perfect for transitioning to warmer weather - especially for those days that start off cooler but warm up as the hours go by.

White + Warren is known for their luxe cashmere and this spring is no different.   This striped light grey knit looks great paired with all shades of blue denim or even your favorite pair of white denim.

The detail on this knit is beautiful. Notice just how breathable the fabric is, especially with a mesh neckline.

Another option is this tunic length light-weight cashmere top that can be worn with a contrasting blue denim or a beautiful white denim.

This top will feel familiar as it has the comforting shape of a long-sleeve t shirt but in cashmere...

This GiGi New York soft leather two-tone tote is a great spring and summer bag. Simply add a neutral that will complete your outfits and not compete with your cashmere statement.

Trust me, spring-weight will be my go-to piece this season - especially since one day its 70 and sunny and the next its 45 and rainy!

Til next time,

Monica.

Fun & Flirty: The off the shoulder is here to stay!

The trend is back and here to stay...

What trend do you ask?  Well darling...It's all about your shoulders.

Whether it's a one shoulder, completely off the shoulder or peek-a-boo shoulder top, you will see this flirty trend continue through the spring & summer.

No one does off the shoulder quite like Milly.  They made this fabulous look so easy to wear!  Their innovative design attaches the sleeves just under the arm making it easier for your arms to move more freely. Say goodbye to constantly having to pull down your sleeves when you lift your arms!

We offer two fabulous designs: black & a fun gem print.  These two tops will be a wardrobe staple.  Dress them up with a pair of earrings or throw on some distressed denim and take on the day.  Both tops offer a fun new take on this trend.

Milly continues to evolve the trend with their use of ruffles.  This one shoulder top is such a refreshing take.  You can easily pair this striped top with a navy or white ankle pant.  If you want to make a statement go ahead and throw on a wide leg pant and wedges.

If you're still unsure of the shoulder trend, why not start small? The peek-a-boo look gives you more coverage but doesn't shy away from the flirty vibes this trend is meant to give.  Trina Turk's knit peek-a-boo shoulder can be worn to work with a skirt or dressed down with jeans.  It's a casual look that will give you an edge without committing to bearing your arms.

Give it a try.  Let me know what you think.  And enjoy these pieces.

Til next time,

Monica.

p.s. Ladies, if your shoulders aren't spring time ready, it's time to start prepping.  Scrub your winter skin away with Bliss' Hot Salt Scrub and follow up with Bliss' Body Butter (available in-store).  You'll have glowing skin in no time.
