Keep it Neutral

It may be feeling like spring, but let's not forget we're still in February! This is perhaps the most confusing time to shop for clothes.  Do you shop for the winter that may still be ahead of us? Or do you go straight to florals and bright colors?

I have the solution: Keep it Neutral.

Keeping it neutral is a great way to buy quality and versatile pieces that can work for you during any season! But don't think just because you're limiting your wardrobe color palette that your outfits will be boring - the quality and details of the pieces will shine through.

This light-weight hooded cashmere cardigan will be a go along way this spring. I love it with a simple black v neck tee - by Lilla P paired back with the skyline skinny white jean by Paige Denim.  Wearing white denim gives your outfit a spring-feel in during these winter months.

And don't feel like what you see is what you get.  This cardigan can easily be paired with any blue denim and a white t-shirt for a more classic take.

This is a great go to outfit for the weekend, especially if its colder in the morning and warmer in the afternoon. The Jenni leather pebble grain cross-body bag by GiGi New York is the perfect bag to travel around with, leaving you hands free for your favorite weekend activity - shopping :)

Cashmere Transition

Cashmere Transition Pt 2: Weekend Wear

The weekend is here, the weather is beautiful and all we want is to break out all of our spring pieces ... in the middle of February.

This time of year can be especially difficult when it comes to putting together your everyday outfit; one day its sunny and 70 and the next its cold with the high of 40.  My secret to success is cashmere.  Below I wrote about how to transition cashmere from winter to spring and this weekend I put together the perfect weekend outfit!

It's all about stripes this spring and no designer does it better than White + Warren for this casual look.  This cashmere sweater is a fun colorful sweater that you can easily throw on and still feel confident and fabulous!

All you need to complete this look is a great pair of jeans - I went with this trendy frayed, high-low cut denim that helps complete the head to to toe look.  Depending on how warm it gets, feel free to pair it with a great pair of shorts! It's all about being comfortable.  And let's not forget the perfect bag that ties the look together.  This GiGi tote is such a wonderful grab and go bag! Throw everything you need in there and enjoy your weekend!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just because winter is nearing its end doesn't mean you have to say, "Goodbye cashmere."

Spring-weight cashmere is perfect for transitioning to warmer weather - especially for those days that start off cooler but warm up as the hours go by.

White + Warren is known for their luxe cashmere and this spring is no different.   This striped light grey knit looks great paired with all shades of blue denim or even your favorite pair of white denim.

The detail on this knit is beautiful. Notice just how breathable the fabric is, especially with a mesh neckline.

Another option is this tunic length light-weight cashmere top that can be worn with a contrasting blue denim or a beautiful white denim.

This top will feel familiar as it has the comforting shape of a long-sleeve t shirt but in cashmere...

This GiGi New York soft leather two-tone tote is a great spring and summer bag. Simply add a neutral that will complete your outfits and not compete with your cashmere statement.

Trust me, spring-weight will be my go-to piece this season - especially since one day its 70 and sunny and the next its 45 and rainy!

Fun & Flirty: The off the shoulder is here to stay!

The trend is back and here to stay...

What trend do you ask?  Well darling...It's all about your shoulders.

Whether it's a one shoulder, completely off the shoulder or peek-a-boo shoulder top, you will see this flirty trend continue through the spring & summer.

No one does off the shoulder quite like Milly.  They made this fabulous look so easy to wear!  Their innovative design attaches the sleeves just under the arm making it easier for your arms to move more freely. Say goodbye to constantly having to pull down your sleeves when you lift your arms!

We offer two fabulous designs: black & a fun gem print.  These two tops will be a wardrobe staple.  Dress them up with a pair of earrings or throw on some distressed denim and take on the day.  Both tops offer a fun new take on this trend.

Milly continues to evolve the trend with their use of ruffles.  This one shoulder top is such a refreshing take.  You can easily pair this striped top with a navy or white ankle pant.  If you want to make a statement go ahead and throw on a wide leg pant and wedges.

If you're still unsure of the shoulder trend, why not start small? The peek-a-boo look gives you more coverage but doesn't shy away from the flirty vibes this trend is meant to give.  Trina Turk's knit peek-a-boo shoulder can be worn to work with a skirt or dressed down with jeans.  It's a casual look that will give you an edge without committing to bearing your arms.

Give it a try.  Let me know what you think.  And enjoy these pieces.

Til next time,

Monica.

p.s. Ladies, if your shoulders aren't spring time ready, it's time to start prepping.  Scrub your winter skin away with Bliss' Hot Salt Scrub and follow up with Bliss' Body Butter (available in-store).  You'll have glowing skin in no time.

Valentine's Day: The red dresses that'll make you fall in love.

This Valentines day, don't just celebrate the day, celebrate the entire month!  You will need a fabulous red dress for the date nights you should be planning right now. I have highlighted three of my favorite R E D dresses that you will love and most importantly feel loved in.

Be a little flirty in this fabulous off the shoulder dress by Trina Turk.  I love this trend.  It sexy without being too much.  You show just enough skin to keep the whole look elegant and classy.  Pair it with this Kendra Scott necklace that can easily be adjusted to fill in the neckline and your outfit will be complete!

My next favorite dress is this one shoulder dress by Velvet by Graham and Spencer.  If you have the body to pull this dress off well then this is a must. You can add a wrap if its a lil chilly and pair with a great black heel or a metallic.

And finally this sleeveless red DVF is so fun! With an intriguing knee cutout, you'll elongate the look of your legs.  The shift structure is so forgiving you'll be ordering dessert at the end of the night ;)

How to wear your favorite boots with your favorite jeans.

*January 18 Update*

It is Buy Now, Wear Now boot season! Since we are currently having our HUGE Winter Sale in-store, we decided to put a few more boots on the shop so you have a chance to purchase them online! The Dee Keller Black Boot as well as the Joie Fringe Boot are a must-have! They are the perfect winter boot, but are also great transitional pieces! Don't wait until it's too late to grab the pair of shoes your closet needs!

---------------

So what's the deal with booties and jeans? It seems every time we want to pair our favorite jeans with our favorite booties the two can't seem to get along! I've had many of my customers come to me and ask "How do I wear these jeans with these boots?" Well here's your answer...and I promise it's a lot easier than you think.

If your jeans are "skinny jeans" and are fitted to your leg near the ankle area by all means tuck them in.  You'll create a sleek line and be able to show off your fabulous boots.

If you are wearing a straight-leg jean don't just automatically tuck it.  You can leave it over the boot or roll it up, depending on what you're feeling that day.

If your are wearing a boyfriend jean roll them up above your  bootie.  Your roll doesn't have to be perfect just try to have them match each other.

And if you're really looking to mix it up, look out for the new uneven hem jeans  - so fresh - I am definitely ready for them :)

Keep it Classic: Black & White in 2017

Happy New Year!  We are so thrilled to be opening our doors for our 21st year in 2017!  The New Year brings a lot of change and exciting challenges, and we can't wait to tackle them all.  We are committing ourselves to provide you a weekly blog post to help your confidence in fashion grow in 2017!  This week it's all about staying classic.

Black and white are TIMELESS.

So in between seasons, or in the midst of one, black and white are neutrals that stand alone.  They are excellent backdrops to show off your favorite accessories too.

This stellar Trina Turk Winter White Sleeveless Top and Pant ensemble will help make 2017 your statement year.  It's versatile enough that it can take you to many events, and all you'll need is a great pair of pumps ( black, pewter, chrome would be my fav then grab a clutch - this could be a fun color: pink, red, purple, emerald ... skies the limit).

I see this look at an engagement party or a play ooorrr for your upcoming Valentines Day dinner :)

Something new for your wrist that is bold yet refined is this fabulour Daniel Wellington Watch.  DW has created a watch that speaks to me.  Their Black Collection is fresh and new...exactly what you'll need in 2017.

The rose gold pops off the black face and can be worn with neutrals or colors. You will want to roll up your sleeve for this watch.

If the velvet shoe fits . . .

We have a major velvet crush on these black Joie pumps! Your feet will enjoy the comfort of velvet, which make these 4 1/2 high heels easy to wear. Build your date night outfit around these!  I would wear a drape neck black cashmere sweater paired with skinny dark denim or tie up the front of a black silk blouse paired with high-waisted dark flare jean.  Either way, make it about the shoe!

GiGi New York Uber Embossed Python Bone Clutch . . . phew.

A clutch to be worn all year. It's not stark white so it will compliment any look. I like a clutch that can hold my wallet , phone and most importantly - my lipstick.  It still lays flat and not bulky under your arm. The size of this GiGi uber clutch is for a the woman that is ready to graduate from her bulky over stuffed clutch and simplify this year.

Theory basic in black - simple never looked better.

Here is that basic dress that is your canvas in 2017.  This knit high neck dress gives you the ability to show of your favorite statement necklace or layer it with a simple cashmere wrap.

Cheers to looking fabulous in 2017!

Shearling on Sale

The cool weather is here and we finally can wear shearling- at least Faux shearling in my case.

I love the option of not having to wear a jacket. When running errands and doing Holiday shopping and you are in and out of stores etc..

tend to  get warm and not want to keep up with a jacket. This faux shearling vest is a great option.  I have it styled over a plaid shirt paired with  everyday denim.  You can sub the plaid shirt to an ivory cashmere turtleneck, or even a denim shirt to give the vest ( outfit ) a different look.

This faux shearling vest is sure not to disappoint.
